WASHINGTON — Although there were some initial fears that a cold front pushing through town Wednesday afternoon would made outdoor events wet and miserable for the evening, perfectly delightful weather conditions ruled the night. All this created an ideal environment to take in Doug Aitken’s “SONG 1″ at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, which opened last week.

The multimedia installation, projected onto the museum’s exterior with 11 high-definition projectors, features different versions of the song “I Only Have Eyes For You” and various visual displays that, according to the Smithsonian, “is a turntable of contemporary life.”

While you’re best to experience “SONG 1″ in person while walking around the museum or sitting in the sculpture garden — it’s on sunset to midnight through May 13 — here’s a slideshow of the visual spectacle.
