We were kind of disappointed with the few pictures released from last night’s White House Concert, but in the recently-released video of the Obamas singing “Hey Jude,” we were able to get a glimpse of the First Lady’s ensemble. And Mrs. O has already identified the dress’s designer: Byron Lars.
Lars is an established designer who broke into the fashion world in 1991, but six years later, his backer pulled funds and his firm closed. Since then, Lars has continued to work on his contemporary line. In March of this year, he told Essence.com, “I would love to dress Michelle Obama. I think we’ve been making clothes for her for years. We finally have an ‘in’ at Ikram (high-end boutique in Chicago), so hopefully that will happen. Keep your fingers crossed.”
